Poly Pig
Foam pigs are molded from open cell polyurethane foam pigs (either TDI or MDI & ester or ether based) with various configurations of solid polyurethane strips and/or wire bristles, studs, etc., which are permanently bonded to them. Foam pigs are available in sizes ranging from ½” to 72”.
Foam pigs are widely used in the pipeline industry, especially for rehabilitation work. They are also particularly useful when developing a pigging programme for a line which has not been regularly pigged & which may contain some unexpected problems.
Being of cylindrical shape, they have contact with the wall over their entire length & this reduces the unit loading.
Low Density
- Low Density Bare Foam Pigs - Wiping or Drying Pigs
- The low-density bare foam pigs are fully bare without any coating on the surface & have only coating with PU elastomer at the bottom or are covered with Rexene fabric depending on the end use. Low density is a range from 16 to 32 kg/cbm (1 to 2 lb./cu ft)
Medium Density
- Medium density bare foam pigs are of medium density – 80 to 96 kg/ CBM (5 to 6 lb./cu ft) and are used for regular wiping & dewatering.
- This medium density foam provides excellent wear resistance and can shall be used for long distance wiping or dewatering applications.
High Density
- High density foam pigs are made out of PU foam pigs with density ranging from 128 to 160 kg/CBM (8 to 10 lb./cu ft). They are used for heavy wiping & dewatering and heavy duty applications with excellent wear resistance.
Ultra-High Density
- Ultra-high density foam pigs are made out of PU foam pigs with density ranging from 240-320 kg/CBM (15 to 20 lb./cu ft) which provides excellent wear resistance and can be used for long distance wiping heavy wiping & for removing the dense deposits of scale.
Bare Foam Pigs
- Bare foam pigs are made with medium density - 80 to 96 kg/CBM (5 to 6 lb./cu ft)/ high density - 128 to 160 kg/CBM and are used for regular wiping & dewatering.
- This foam pig is coated on the surface with polyurethane elastomers & is used for heavy cleaning & dewatering
Fully Coated Foam Pigs
- This medium density foam pig is fully coated hence provides excellent wear resistance and can shall be used for long distance wiping or dewatering applications.
Criss Cross Coated Foam pigs
- The coating on this pig is made in a criss-cross pattern. The pig is used in regular cleaning & dewatering applications.
- This foam pig is coated on the surface with polyurethane elastomers in a criss cross pattern & is used for heavy cleaning & dewatering.
Silicon Carbide Strip Pasted Foam Pigs
- Silicon Carbide Strip Pasted Foam Pigs: This pig surface is coated with polyurethane elastomer & strips of silicon carbide abrasive are pasted on the surface for tight bonding. It is used for heavy scraping of the scales from the pipeline internal diameter.
