Tube plugs for protect the tube ends during storage and transportation and are also for coating.
On specific applications with high temperatures, Inconel inserts with ceramic paper wrapping is also used, where one end of the insert will be flared & the other end will have a reverse taper to hold the ceramic fiber in between.
